Chuffers

The Chuffers are several members of WMS who own, or are interested, in model railways. We meet at regular intervals, usually around someone's house. Here we help each other with building their layouts, and/or chat about them over cups of tea and sometimes slices of cake. All aspects of model railways are discussed and evaluated from DC or DCC control to the building of ancillary buildings.

We are interested in all different scales and era's as well as all forms of locomotion whether it be steam, diesel, diesel electric or just electric. All are welcome to see what we are up to and willing to give help to those who are starting out and want some help and advice.

Latest News From The Chuffers

“The Chuffers this month have been progressing with their own projects as well as helping Ray with his layout. I am slowly clearing out a shed ready for me to start my layout. In this hot weather, it really is slow work! In the meantime, I have done some work on the computer constructing a layout that I like. These days there is free software available to help you design a layout before you even buy any track. I have added here an idea of the different gauges that are available for a model railway. To decide on a gauge is important when you are deciding to build a model railway. The main criteria is what space do you have available and what do you want to achieve in that space.
Ray’s track is progressing well, with ballasting taking place along the track and the construction of station platforms progressing well. All 16 of his points are now functioning well with indication
back to the control panel.
4 of us had an outing to Aylsham for a visit to the Bure Valley Model shop. We then went on to visit Wroxham Miniature World. What a great place to visit, with all sorts of displays.
We are all involved in making our own layouts, but if anyone else is interested please get in touch. Like with all our Shed activities there is a lot of chat, laughing and cups of tea involved. Just have a chat with either Dave, Ray, Grahame or me.“
