Music Group
The Music Group is open to all Shed Members. You can either bring along a track to play (CD or by mobile app preferred) or just come along and listen to the selections of others. We have a monthly theme, and all types of music are welcome. The Club meets on a monthly basis throughout the year – normally the first Wednesday in the month and starting as soon as possible after 9.30 in the room at the back of the bar near the pool table. There is no additional charge other than the usual £2 Shed sub payable in the social room. We also run a quarterly Music Quiz in the same room after four sessions each year, from 12 - 2, with lunch or snacks available from the bar.

Music Group Latest News
“We had one of our best sessions for a long time this month, despite the room being very hot. There was a fan in the room, but it was quite loud, so we had to endure a bit of heat. Our theme was “A Real Classic” and as you might expect we got a steady stream of high-quality songs from the 19 of us who attended. Everyone’s view of a classic is different, and we got music from Sarah Brightman and Russell Watson, via Glen Campbell and the Carpenters, to Chuck Berry , Jethro Tull and The Rolling Stones. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, including Mark and Simon Neilson who came along for the first time.
The top five tunes were:
1st “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel, picked by Dave, on 150
2nd “You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me” by Dusty Springfield, picked by Peter S, on 147
3rd “Top of The World” by The Carpenters, picked by Wayne, on 140
4th “Rock Around the Clock” by Bill Haley and The Comets, picked by Neil, on 135
5th “Johnny B Goode” by Chuck Berry, picked by Les, on 134
We have two next meetings to note this month. The first is the inaugural “Long Music” group, where songs must be between 5 and 10 minutes long. This will be held on Wednesday July 29th starting at 9.30 as usual. If all goes well this will become a quarterly session. Our next normal meeting will be held on the first Wednesday of next month, Wednesday August 5th, the theme will be “My Favourite Music to Drive To”. Everyone now seems to get there without any trouble by 9.30…….!
We always have a good time and lots of good-natured chat, so if you enjoy music of any kind why not come along? You don't even have to bring along something to play if you don't want to, as you are more than welcome to just come and listen to our many and varied selections.”
