Music Group Latest News
This was our first session to start at 9.30, and it allowed us to have a bit more time for reminiscing and chatting about each track. However, as is normal in August the numbers were a little lower than of late due to holidays and the like, so there were 13 members attending, with 14 tracks played (two being bonus unscored tracks).
The theme of “Summertime” was most appropriate and provided a good range of songs around the subject. There were three versions of one song (“Summertime” from Porgy and Bess) played for what I think is the first time, and two of another, along with a few off-the-wall choices. As we had a few members arriving a little after the start, the scores had to be adjusted to give an average based on
numbers there for that song. The top averaging tracks of the day were:
1. “Summertime” by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong at 7.6
2. “Summertime Blues” by Eddie Cochrane at 7.5
3. “Summertime Blues” by The Who at 7.4
4. “Good day sunshine” by The Beatles on 7.1
5. “On the beach” by Chris Rea on 6.4
Next month's meeting is on September 3rd, where the theme is “Names”.
We always have a good time and lots of good-natured chat, so if you enjoy music of any kind why not come along? You don't even have to bring along something to play if you don't want to, as you are more than welcome to just come and listen to our many and varied selections. Please don’t forget to sign in and pay the usual £2 session fee.
